Voiceland supports EDYDA with technological equipment for forest protection

In recent decades, Greece has been increasingly and intensely facing forest fire incidents, a result of climate change, drought, and human negligence. The consequences are devastating: thousands of acres of forest are lost every year, affecting biodiversity, quality of life, and the safety of entire communities.

In response to this challenge, the need for organized prevention and immediate intervention is more urgent than ever.

What is EDYDA?

The Voluntary Forest Fire Protection Force of Attica (EDYDA) was founded in 2019 and currently consists of 57 active members, trained and operationally ready to contribute to the prevention and suppression of forest fires. The team operates in forested areas of Attica, conducting patrols, surveillance, and immediate intervention when needed, always in cooperation with the competent state authorities.

With selflessness and a volunteer spirit, EDYDA members provide a critical role in environmental protection and civil protection reinforcement, especially during the fire prevention period.

Voiceland’s sponsorship

Since January 2024, Voiceland has been supporting EDYDA through sponsorship, providing advanced telecommunications and networking equipment that significantly enhances the team’s daily operations.

Specifically, the sponsorship includes:

  1. Cloud Telephone Center (PBX) with professional call management, routing, and voicemail capabilities

  2. Networking equipment (router, switch, cabling) to fully cover the connectivity needs of the team’s operations center

  3. External 2.4G antenna for distributing a strong and stable Internet signal on-site

  4. Internet connection via 4G mobile network, ensuring communication even in remote locations or during fixed network outages

  5. VoIP telephone device SNOM D712 for reliable and flexible voice communication

  6. Geographic phone number allocation (210700XXXX), providing the team with a unique phone identity and access from any interested party or organization

How this sponsorship helps

The technological infrastructure provided by Voiceland substantially improves internal communication, member coordination, and availability to third parties (citizens, organizations, cooperating services), thus enhancing EDYDA’s operational readiness. Especially during the ongoing fire prevention season, reliable communication can prove critical for mission success and volunteer safety.
